In total, more than 13,500 Turks were to leave Germany. Most of them are Kurds. Turkey is ready to receive up to 500 citizens per week.
The German government has agreed with official Ankara on the deportation of thousands of Turkish citizens who were previously denied asylum and forced to leave Germany. This was reported by the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung with reference to German government circles.
It was learned that the Turkish government is ready to receive up to 500 citizens weekly, but initially planned to deport 200 people to the country on regular flights.
Planes carrying rejected asylum seekers will depart from various airports in Germany. At the same time, Ankara still refused to allow deportations on charter flights. However, it appears willing to accept such flights in the future as long as they are called “special flights.”
According to the publication, in total more than 13,500 Turks in Germany will have to leave the country. Their deportation is difficult because Türkiye “has great geopolitical importance for Germany and is a NATO partner.” It was also noted that the recent increase in the number of asylum seekers from Turkey is, first of all, a “Kurdish phenomenon.” Last year, 84% of applicants said they were Kurdish.
Let’s remember that last year a Swedish court authorized the extradition of a Kurdish party supporter to Turkey.
