Kyiv emphasized that such “peaceful initiatives” only create the illusion of dialogue, while the aggressor continues his criminal actions.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is disappointed by Switzerland’s support for the “Chinese-Brazilian consensus” regarding Ukraine and calls on all countries that support international law and the UN Charter to refrain from participating in such initiatives. This was stated in the commentary of the department published on the evening of Saturday, September 28.
“We do not understand the logic of such a decision, together with the Swiss Confederation, we organized the first international Peace Summit on June 15-16 in Bürgenstock, which was attended by representatives of a hundred countries and international institutions that continue to actively cooperate to increase the number of signatories to the final Communiqué of this summit, Switzerland is taking part in thematic conferences on specific points of the Peace Formula, whose aim is to prepare a common framework of peace for the restoration of a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace for Ukraine,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that all ideas, discussions and plans to restore peace for Ukraine must be based on two principles: “First, there is nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. Second, these proposals must be based on the UN Charter and includes respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders.
The ministry called the Ukrainian Peace Formula the only path to a comprehensive, fair and sustainable peace and said there was no need to create additional formats and platforms for discussing ways to achieve peace for Ukraine.
“Any initiatives that do not contain a clear reference to the UN Charter and do not guarantee the full restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine are unacceptable such” peaceful initiatives” only create the illusion of dialogue, while the aggressor is continuing his criminal actions,” the Foreign Ministry said.
They also called on the Swiss Confederation and all countries that support international law and the UN Charter to refrain from participating in so-called peace initiatives that can only disrupt the process of achieving a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace for Ukraine.
We remind you that on Saturday night it became known that Switzerland joined the Sino-Brazilian “peace” initiative.
The day before it was reported that China, Brazil and several other countries of the Global South agreed to create a “Friends of Peace” platform, within the framework of which it is planned to promote a peaceful resolution of the “crisis in Ukraine.” Hungary also announced that it is joining the Sino-Brazilian Friends of Peace initiative.
