The head of state said that this is an internal issue of Ukraine, which he cannot discuss with Speaker Johnson.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said he could only discuss recalling the Ukrainian ambassador with officials from his country. He said this in an interview with Fox News on Saturday, September 28.
So, Zelensky answered a question from a journalist who asked if he planned to withdraw Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, because of concerns about Republicans, especially the Speaker of Congress, who were disappointed by Zelensky’s trip. in Pennsylvania.
“I am the president of Ukraine, and I can only discuss our ambassadors with the speaker of my country, you know, this is the constitution, and I cannot discuss it with Speaker Johnson, with all due respect,” Zelensky responded.
Speaking about his trip to Pennsylvania, he said he had no regrets and explained that it had nothing to do with the US election campaign. He stressed that Ukraine should not get involved in the internal elections of the United States, because it can be dangerous and full of loss of support from one and the other side of politics.
Let’s recall that after Zelensky’s trip to an ammunition plant in Pennsylvania, where he was accompanied only by representatives of the Democratic Party, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, announced the interference in the American elections. He appealed to Zelensky with a request to immediately remove the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova.
And the Republican-controlled House of Representatives launched an investigation into President Zelensky’s flight to Pennsylvania to visit a munitions plant “at the expense of American taxpayers.”
