In Nizhyn, Chernihiv region, today, September 27, at about 11:00, one of the leaders of the Nizhyn district police department hit a serviceman.
The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reported this.
Today at about 11.00, a law enforcement officer in an official car was moving towards one of the intersections in the center of Nizhyn. Suddenly a man ran out onto the roadway. It was not possible to avoid the collision; the serviceman died on the spot from his injuries, the report says.
It is noted that, according to preliminary data, the driver was sober.
Criminal proceedings were initiated on the grounds of an offense under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code (violation of road safety rules or operation of transport by a person driving a vehicle, resulting in the death of the victim).
The necessary investigative actions are being carried out in order to fully and comprehensively investigate the circumstances of the accident, the DBI added.
