A group of American fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II fighters arrived at the Andravida base in Greece to participate in the NATO exercises Ramstein Flag 2024. This was reported by the US Air Force Command in Europe.
It is known that the exercises will be held under the leadership of the NATO Joint Air Command from September 30 to October 11. The air forces of the 12 member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance will take part in them.
American fighters were flown from the British airbase at Lakenheath. American KC-135 refueling aircraft from Mildenhall Air Force Base in England also arrived in Greece.
According to US Air Forces Europe, Exercise Ramstein Flag 2024 aims to improve the joint warfighting capabilities of NATO member nations, including the use of joint air and missile defense.
As noted by General James Hecker, Commander of US Air Forces in Europe, Exercise Ramstein Flag 2024 will demonstrate NATO’s collective commitment to peace and security, especially in the event of a contingency.
Let’s recall that in June Germany hosted one of the largest NATO joint air operations exercises in Europe, aimed at strengthening cooperation with partner countries and intended for the exchange of aviation and technical experience.
And recently, the international fire support unit exercises Fire Thunder 2024 with the participation of the NATO military took place at three training grounds in Lithuania.
