Israel’s army chief has ordered troops near the border to be ready to cross into Lebanon.
Preventing any transfer of arms from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon is now the priority of the Israeli army. This was announced on Thursday, September 26, by the commander of the Israeli Air Force, Tomer Bar.
“We will prevent any possibility of transfer of weapons from Iran,” the commander said.
He added that the Israel Defense Forces, along with the Northern Command, are preparing “to enter the ground maneuver” and that in the near future the Israeli operation will expand into Northern Lebanon.
“We are preparing, but whether it is carried out is our decision. There is a bigger threat out there,” said Tomer Bar.
Last week, Israel carried out its worst airstrikes in Lebanon since the 2006 war. Hezbollah fired hundreds of rockets at targets in Israel, including its economic center Tel Aviv.
Let’s recall that on the morning of September 23, Israel escalated its attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces attacked several hundred of the group’s targets.
The IDF also targeted the homes of local residents who, according to the army, may be storing the group’s weapons. Israel sent messages to the Lebanese before the attack urging them to stay home.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the decision to call up two reserve brigades for operations in northern Israel.
