Currently, there are 55 thousand people in the Unified Register of Missing Persons under Special Circumstances. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Leonid Timchenko announced this in an interview with Ukrinform on Thursday, September 26.
“Most of them are military personnel. This figure is quite dynamic: when the whereabouts of missing people is established, in some cases it turns out that the citizen, for example, is in captivity is considered missing, “- said he.
According to the deputy minister, during the collection of biological material from family members of missing persons found abroad, the National Police received 751 DNA profiles.
107 families found their relatives among the bodies that were considered unidentified.
DNA collection was carried out in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Spain, Italy and Turkey. It is also planned to be organized in Switzerland.
We remind you that in July there were 42 thousand people in the Unified Register of Missing Persons under special circumstances. More than 2,000 children are considered missing as a result of the war.
