Russia has developed and launched production of long-range attack UAVs in China.
The Russian company IEMZ Kupol, a subsidiary of the state corporation Almaz-Antey, has developed the Harpia-3 drone and conducted its flight tests with the participation of Chinese specialists. Mass production of these drones has already been established at a plant in China. This was reported by the Reuters agency.
Beijing has already stated that it has no information about such projects. Chinese authorities noted strict control over the export of military products, including unmanned aerial vehicles.
Fabian Hinz, an expert at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said that China had so far supplied Russia with dual-use goods, but not entire weapons systems. The supply of combat drones would be a major development.
It is noted that Kupol received seven Chinese-made military drones, including two Harpy-3. The equipment was delivered to the Russian city of Izhevsk. Technical data indicate that the Harpy-3 UAV can travel about 2 thousand km with a payload of 50 kg.
Let us recall that on the night of September 25, the Ukrainian military destroyed the Russian attack drone Shahed-136, equipped with the Starlink satellite communications system from the American company SpaceX. Such a drone can transmit collected information about, for example, the positions of Ukrainian air defense.
