US House Speaker Johnson is “not sure” whether he will be able to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky when he comes to Washington. The Ukrainian president is scheduled to visit Congress on Thursday, September 26.
Johnson said this in a comment to Voice of America.
I don’t think we’ll be in town on Thursday. Our schedule has changed. It’s all very fluid. There’s a hurricane coming up the Gulf Coast. A lot of us are going to be scattered, people are going home because of that. So I’m not sure yet, the speaker said.
A meeting between Trump and Zelensky, who is visiting the United States, is also not planned.
This was reported by the Associated Press, citing a representative of the US presidential candidate’s headquarters.
Earlier, the President’s Office noted that Zelensky plans to present a “victory plan” for Ukraine to US President Joe Biden, as well as presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
