The Russians will probably succeed in capturing all of Vuhledar, but how quickly or easily they can do so will depend in part on Ukrainian decision-making.
The Institute for the Study of War reported this in a report on September 24.
If Ukrainian forces decide to defend Ugledar, the infidels may find it difficult to fight for the settlement, which Ukraine has been fortifying for two years, experts say.
If the Russians do not occupy the settlement relatively quickly, the Russian maneuver along the flanks of Ugledar could also suffer due to the onset of autumn rains, ISW noted.
However, Russia’s potential seizure of Vuhledar is unlikely to fundamentally change the course of offensive operations in the west of Donetsk Oblast, according to the Institute’s analysts. They note that Vuhledar is not a particularly important logistics hub – Russian troops already control most of the main roads leading to Vuhledar.
