The Operational Command “West” commented on the unauthorized abandonment of the unit (SZCh) of Sergei Gnezdilov.
They believe that the decision of a soldier from the 56th separate motorized rifle brigade to leave his unit without permission will affect the combat capability of the unit.
At the same time, the OK acknowledged that the final term of military service is indeed a problem.
How to solve this problem? Win the war. For some reason, one important detail was lost in the whole discussion – Russia. No one came up with the idea of mobilizing a million Ukrainians for no reason. No one wants to spend a large part of the budget on the army. No one supports closed borders. This is not being done because someone WANTS to play. This is being done because we HAVE to do it.
Because there is an enemy. There is Russia. There is a 2-million-strong Russian army that continues to advance. There are daily missile strikes on our peaceful cities. There are millions of forced refugees. There are occupied cities. There are destroyed factories, schools, roads, bridges. There are dead. This is OUR PROBLEM, the operational command noted.
They added that the problem is not the end of service life, but that right now we need to defend ourselves, not engage in social activism.
Activism remained during the time of the Central Rada, which disbanded the army and was concerned about peace throughout the world. Then the Bolsheviks came and carried out repressions, the Holodomor, deportations, wars and more repressions, – OK reminded.
An official investigation will be conducted in the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of Mariupol after serviceman Gnezdilov left the military unit without permission.
The brigade’s press service reported this to Obshchestvenny.
A serviceman of the 56th separate motorized rifle brigade, Serhiy Gnezdilov, committed actions containing elements of a criminal offense, stipulated by Part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized abandonment of a military unit or place of service by a serviceman, committed under martial law). An official investigation has been ordered into this fact and all procedural actions stipulated by law are being carried out, the press service noted.
They also added that the command of the military unit adheres to its position – zero tolerance for such acts.
Previously, a public activist, founder of the Vilka-fest festival in the Odessa region, and now a serviceman of the 56th separate motorized infantry Mariupol brigade, Gnezdilov said that he was going to the SZCh, that is, he was leaving the military unit without permission, in order to draw attention to the need to establish terms of service for mobilized personnel.
In fact, this is the first public demarche from the military, demanding that terms of service be established and that a sufficient number of those hiding in the rear be mobilized.
