There is a threat of Russian strikes on nuclear facilities in Ukraine, the president said.
The aggressor country Russia is using Chinese satellites to photograph Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Perhaps this is being done in preparation to attack them. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an interview with ABC News, published on Tuesday, September 24.
“According to the latest data, Russia uses Chinese satellites and captures details of objects in nuclear facilities… And in our experience, if Russia photographs some objects, then there is a threat of an attack on nuclear facilities,” he said.
At the same time, Zelensky did not specify whether the Chinese satellites used by Russia were commercial or controlled by the Chinese government.
The President added that this week he will share the information Ukraine has with leaders at the UN General Assembly.
ABC News also reported that the Chinese Embassy in Washington did not respond to a request for comment on Monday about the situation with the satellites.
Let’s recall that in April the media reported that China was providing Russia with satellite images for military purposes, microelectronics, mechanical equipment for tanks, optics and other things necessary for war.
As is known, the Russian attack on August 26 disrupted the operation of two nuclear power plants in Ukraine. Four power units are disconnected from the network.
Details of the incident at one of the nuclear power plants in Ukraine also became known, due to which its power was reduced.
