Security measures will be tightened in the city for Rosh Hashanah. Authorities called for understanding of the restrictions.
In Uman, Cherkasy region, a special entry and movement regime around the city began to apply due to the arrival of Hasidic pilgrims on Rosh Hashanah. This was announced by the head of Cherkasy OVA Igor Taburets on Monday, September 23.
So far, more than 1,500 pilgrims have arrived.
“Uman. From now on, a special regime for entering/exiting, as well as for movement around the city, has begun to operate. In essence, the control procedures are the same as last year. We have strengthened ourselves a bit technically. Our security and defense forces are working in an enhanced mode Regardless of the warnings, now there are more than one and a half thousand pilgrims, “said Taburets.
He explained that a whole range of measures are being taken for the safety of local residents and visitors. So, calls for understanding the restrictions.
Let us remind you that from the beginning of September Hasidic pilgrims began to come to the Cherkasy region to celebrate the Jewish New Year – Rosh Hashanah, which will be celebrated in October this year.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine appealed to Hasidic pilgrims with a request to prevent the pilgrimage to Uman during this year’s Rosh Hashanah celebration.
We would like to add that security measures will be strengthened in Uman for Rosh Hashanah. In 2024, the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, will begin on the night of October 2nd and end on the night of the 4th.
