The SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation detained in Lvov the head of the Western Interregional Department for the Enforcement of Criminal Sentences of the Ministry of Justice, which imposed a “tribute” on businessmen. The SBU press service reported this on Monday, September 23.
The official demanded bribes from businessmen in exchange for unhindered business activities in correctional institutions in the western region of Ukraine.
In particular, it is documented that the defendant established a scheme of corruption in a company engaged in wood processing in the territory of one of the correctional colonies.

Law enforcement officials gradually documented the criminal activities of the defendant and arrested him “in the act” when he received a new “tranche” of illegal benefits of more than 2 thousand euros.
The investigation is currently underway. The penalty of the incriminated article of the Criminal Code provides a penalty of up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
