Heavy snowfall blanketed South Africa.
Heavy snow began falling on the African continent on Friday, September 20.
In some places, up to two meters of snow fell. The unusual bad weather for this region paralyzed traffic on the roads. Motorists on the highway had to wait for hours for help, they were forced to spend the night from Friday to Saturday in their cars. Rescuers are working all weekend. Blankets and food were delivered to those trapped in the snow. This was reported by the publication France 24.
Journalists estimate that about 1,000 cars are blocked. The worst situation is on the N3 highway, which connects Johannesburg and the east coast city of Durban.
Recall that massive floods in Poland last week killed seven people. The situation was catastrophic in many cities and villages. Floods destroyed homes, schools, hospitals, roads and bridges. Authorities evacuated thousands of people.
In some places in Poland, 215 liters of rain per square meter fell in 24 hours. Water levels rose to horrific levels, in some places even exceeding the “millennium flood” of 1997.
