The reason could be Russia’s intention to modify the trucks to deliver missiles or Iran’s attempt to maintain room for maneuver in negotiations.
Iran has provided Russia with Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles, but has not sent them the mobile launchers needed to launch them. This was reported by Reuters, citing three sources: a European diplomat, a European intelligence representative and an American official.
The American interlocutor of the agency said that Tehran did not provide Moscow with launchers at the time when the United States announced the transfer of Iranian missiles to Russia. The representative of European intelligence, without going into details, noted that Europe does not expect their delivery to the Russian Federation.
Experts interviewed by Reuters cited two possible reasons for the lack of launchers. One of them could be Russia’s plan to modify trucks to deliver missiles. Another version is Iran’s strategic attempt to maintain room for maneuver in negotiations with Western countries to “reduce tensions.”
Let’s recall that in early September the media reported that Iran sent short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. The Iranian authorities officially deny the fact of supplying the missiles. But the information was officially confirmed by the US State Department.
On September 11, President Vladimir Zelensky said he could not yet confirm that Russia had used Iranian ballistic missiles.
