Donald Trump has declined to participate in a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, which CNN offered to host.
The Republican candidate said it was “too late” to hold another debate.
“She held one debate. I held two. It’s too late to have one. There are many reasons why I would like to do it, but it’s too late. The vote is in,” Trump said at a campaign event in Wilmington, North Carolina.
He added that Harris “had a chance” to meet him at a debate on Fox, but declined.
She had a chance to do it on Fox. You know, Fox invited us, and I waited and waited, but they said no. They said no, and now she wants to do the election debate on CNN because she’s going to lose big time,” Trump said.
Harris’ campaign had previously announced that the Democratic nominee would participate in a CNN debate scheduled for October 23. Trump initially insisted that “there will be no third debate,” but suggested last week that he might participate.
CNN noted that the second debate between the US presidential candidates would be beneficial to American voters.
Both Vice President Harris and former President Trump have been invited to participate in the debate. We look forward to hearing from both campaigns, the reporters added.
