According to the governor of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Alexei Smirnov, a gas distribution station in the village of Bolshoye Soldatskoye was allegedly damaged as a result of shelling from Ukraine. This was reported by the Russian Telegram channel ASTRA on Friday, September 20.
It was noted that due to this, the gas supply was interrupted in Velikosoldatsky and Belovsky districts. Smirnov says some residents are already connected to the backup gas distribution station.
Bolshoye Soldatskoye is located between Kursk and Sudzha, captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where there is a gas measuring station (GIS) Suja.
In Russian Gazprom reported that the company provides gas to Europe in transit through Ukraine in the amount of 42.4 million cubic meters. m per day only through Sudzha. The transit branch through it remains the only route for Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense, a day after the “border breakthrough” announced by the Russian media, acknowledged the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. The head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, said Russian troops had “stopped the enemy’s advance” deeper into the territory.
Subsequently, a state of emergency was declared in the Kursk region of Russia due to the violation of the border by the Ukrainian military.
