The International Atomic Energy Agency adopted a resolution on nuclear safety in Ukraine at its general conference.
The IAEA called for the immediate withdrawal of military and other Russian personnel from the territory of the Zaporizhzhya NPP and the return of the station to the control of Ukraine to ensure its safety. The document was supported by 65 votes, with 52 agency member countries co-authoring it. This was reported on September 20 by the Ministry of Energy.
The resolution states that Ukrainian nuclear power plants, including the Zaporizhzhya NPP, must operate under the full sovereign control of Ukraine. Until deoccupation, IAEA specialists must have unlimited access to all facilities and information at the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already responded to the IAEA resolution. He said that the aggressor country Russia is the only terrorist regime in the world that stole a nuclear power plant, which is the largest “atomic power plant” in Europe, turned it into a military base and continues to use it for nuclear blackmail.
The head of state stressed that nuclear safety is the first point of the peace formula and was one of the main topics on the agenda of the first Peace Summit.
Let us recall that on September 13, Energoatom announced that over the past few weeks, more than 70 unmanned aerial vehicles of the terrorist country and more than 30 enemy cruise missiles had been recorded flying near Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
