The IAEA General Conference, during its 68th session, adopted by 65 votes the resolution “Nuclear Safety, Security and Precautions in Ukraine”. This was reported by the Mienergo press service on Friday, September 20.
The document was co-authored by the agency’s 52 member countries.
In particular, the resolution confirms that Ukrainian nuclear power plants, including the Zaporozhye NPP, must operate under the full sovereign control of Ukraine.
“The IAEA calls for the immediate withdrawal of the military and other personnel of the Russian Federation from the territory of the Zaporizhia NPP and the return of the plant to the control of the Ukrainian authorities to ensure its safety,” the text of the document.
