The State Bureau of Investigation exposed a large-scale deal in the purchase of clothing for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The commander of one of the military units of the Dnepropetrovsk region and the head of a private enterprise arranged the purchase of low-quality clothing for military personnel for UAH 200 million. The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reported this on Friday, September 20.
The head of the unit entered into an agreement on the purchase of military clothing with a private enterprise. As the analysis showed, the company is engaged in the resale of low-quality products. Without checking it, the commander signed a contract without a tender with an advance payment of 30% of the total contract value.
After the prepayment, the military unit received only part of the high-quality clothing, and at the cost of about 150 million hryvnias, the clothing was provided that did not meet any quality standards and exposed the defenders to danger. The management of the unit, understanding the risks, signed the necessary documents and made full payment for the low-quality product.
During the searches, money was confiscated from the military and the businessman. The commander is informed of suspicion of negligence in service if it resulted in serious consequences, occurring under martial law or in a combat situation. He faces up to eight years in prison.
The director of a private enterprise is suspected of fraud committed under martial law on a large scale. The punishment of the article provides punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention has been resolved.
Let us remind you that earlier the SBU detained businessmen who stole money from the production of dynamic protection for tanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
