The Ukrainian delegation discussed the status of the transfer of ACS 890 air reconnaissance and control aircraft to Ukraine, their integration into the Ukrainian air defense system, as well as issues of interaction with the existing combat aviation of Ukraine.
During the official visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Defense to Sweden, the parties discussed the deepening of cooperation in the field of training Ukrainian pilots, development of new defense policies, doctrines and introduction of innovative solutions. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense on Thursday, September 19.
There was also talk of cooperation with Ukrainian research and innovation institutions to jointly develop new defense policies and doctrines.
An important part of the visit was an introductory meeting with representatives of the Swedish Air Force Combat Simulation Center, where the Ukrainian delegation became familiar with the process of training Swedish pilots in aviation simulators.
In addition, the Ukrainian side has expressed interest in training its pilots and other specialists of the Ukrainian Air Force in Sweden.
Moreover, the department noted that the state of transfer of ACS 890 aerial reconnaissance and control aircraft to Ukraine, their integration into the Ukrainian air defense system, as well as issues of interaction with the existing combat aviation of Ukraine were discussed .
Earlier, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky thanked Sweden for the decision to provide our state with a military aid package worth more than $445 million.
Let’s recall that in May Sweden allocated the 16th package of military aid to Ukraine. This is still a record – 13.3 billion crowns (more than 1.1 billion euros). For the first time, the package includes two ASC 890 radar reconnaissance and control aircraft.
Overall, since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, Sweden has provided Ukraine with military aid totaling 48.1 billion kroner (almost 4.2 billion euros).
Recently it became known that Sweden will increase the defense budget to help Ukraine.
