The violin, probably by the Italian master Stradivarius, was discovered by border guards from the Lviv detachment in a car heading out of Ukraine.
The State Tax Service press service reported this today, September 19.
The violin is marked as Antonius Stradiuarius Cremomentis Faciebad Anno 1728. It was found in the trunk of a MITSUBISHI car at the Krakovets checkpoint on the border with Poland, the report says.
It is noted that this violin may be an original instrument made by the Italian master Antonio Stradivari – this instrument is distinguished by its particularly pure sound and is valued in the world.
Customs officials confiscated the musical instrument. An expert examination will determine whether it has cultural and historical value, the department noted.
