The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is attacking Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Office reported this today, September 19.
The terrorist organization Hezbollah has turned southern Lebanon into a war zone. For decades, Hezbollah has armed civilian homes, dug tunnels under them, and used civilians as human shields, the statement said.
The Israeli army’s goal is said to be to destroy Hezbollah’s terrorist capabilities and infrastructure.
The IDF is working to create security in the north that will allow residents to return to their homes and achieve all other war goals, the statement said.
Israel earlier announced that it was expanding the goals of its war in the Gaza Strip against Hamas to include Hezbollah, Hamas’s ally in Lebanon.
