The UK will receive funding initially. The center is expected to operate for two years with the possibility of extension.

Romania may create a maritime training center on its territory to train Ukrainian marines. But its creation must be approved by the country’s parliament. This was reported by Euractiv.

It has already been mentioned that in a letter to the parliament, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, emphasized the need to strengthen and diversify the training of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the context of the ongoing war. It is expected that Romania will be a key link in strengthening Ukraine’s maritime potential by providing its infrastructure for the training of seafarers.

The proposal is reportedly part of efforts by the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), an alliance of 57 countries and the European Union that supports Ukraine in its opposition to Russian aggression.

The creation of the center will be supported by the international community, with the UK receiving initial funding. The center is expected to operate for two years with the possibility of extension. Romania reserves the right to terminate participation in the project if necessary.

We remind you that a group of Ukrainian pilots has started training F-16 fighters in Romania.

It was also reported that Romanian President Klaus Iohannis signed a law providing for the transfer of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine.
