The Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the CSTO does not threaten Armenia, Russia will send this position to Yerevan. This was reported by RosSMI on Wednesday, September 18.
“We must disagree with Mr. Pashinyan: no danger, no threat to the sovereignty of Armenia can and does not come from the CSTO. On the contrary, this organization guards the sovereignty of the member states the attention of the Armenian leadership,” He said.
This is how he commented on the statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan that the CSTO threatens the security, sovereignty and state of his country.
Peskov emphasized that Armenia is a close partner of Russia, and relations with it will continue. He also added that Armenia itself chooses the strategic and tactical path of development.
Let’s recall that in February, Armenia suspended its participation in the CSTO. Pashinyan declared that Yerevan can no longer rely on Russia as its main defense and military partner.
And in September, Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that Armenia may leave the CSTO because some allies did not fulfill their treaty obligations and “planned a war against us together with Azerbaijan.”
