Another attack attempt was likely made on US presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to refrain from artificially linking a suspect to a possible attempt on the life of US presidential candidate Donald Trump in Ukraine. The corresponding statement was made by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgy Tikhy, at a briefing on Tuesday, September 17.
“Yes, we see from the news that the suspect has previously publicly supported Ukraine. But look, there are hundreds of millions of people in the United States who support Ukraine. And obviously it’s a diverse group of people. We urge everyone to refrain from artificially associating the suspect’s actions with Ukraine,” Tikhy said.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized that Ukraine strongly condemns “this criminal act and all forms of political violence.”
“We are glad that the suspect was detained so quickly, and we want to emphasize that he has no connection with Ukrainian government agencies and he never fought for Ukraine as part of the International Legion or other units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces ,” Tikhy added.
Let’s remember that on September 15, a shooting took place near a golf club in Florida, where Trump was staying. Secret Service agents spotted the gunman and opened fire on him. He was later imprisoned. The FBI called the incident “consistent with an assassination attempt on Trump.”
The detainee is Ryan Wesley Root. According to media reports, he expressed support for Ukraine on social networks after the Russian invasion.
