The American billionaire deleted a post on X that “no one is trying to kill Biden or Harris.”
The White House criticized the deleted post of the billionaire, owner of the social network X Elon Musk, related to the assassination attempt on US presidential candidate Donald Trump. Axios reported it.
Musk wrote on his account, asking why there have been two attempts on Trump’s life, but US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have not faced similar situations.
After a sharp reaction in society, the businessman decided to delete the publication, explaining that it was a bad joke.
“That’s fair. I wouldn’t want to do what they did, even as a joke,” Musk wrote.
White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates condemned such rhetoric, saying any display of political violence should be strongly condemned, not ridiculed or encouraged.
“Violence should be condemned, not encouraged or ridiculed. Such rhetoric is irresponsible,” Bates insisted.
Bates also recalled that after the news of the assassination attempt on Trump, Biden and Harris publicly condemned any form of violence and called for abstinence.
Let’s remember that on September 15, a shooting took place near a golf club in Florida, where Trump was staying. Secret Service agents spotted the gunman and opened fire on him. He was later imprisoned. The FBI called the incident “consistent with an assassination attempt on Trump.”
The detainee is Ryan Wesley Root. According to media reports, he expressed support for Ukraine on social networks after the Russian invasion.
