Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was allegedly attacked on Sunday, September 15, while he was playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida.
US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump discussed on the phone the possible assassination attempt on the life of the Republican candidate at his golf resort in Florida. The Hill wrote this on Monday, September 16.
“We had a very good conversation about protecting the Secret Service,” Trump said in a statement.
The White House described the call as “cordial” and noted that “Biden expressed his relief that Trump is safe.”
Earlier Monday, Biden noted that the Secret Service “needs more help.”
“I think Congress needs to address their needs if they really need more Secret Service personnel. So that’s what we’re going to talk about,” Biden told reporters.
Let’s remember that on September 15, a shooting took place near a golf club in Florida, where Trump was staying. Secret Service agents spotted the gunman and opened fire on him. He was later imprisoned.
The FBI called the incident “a special case of an attempt to kill Trump.”
The detainee is Ryan Wesley Root. According to media reports, he expressed support for Ukraine on social networks after the Russian invasion.
