Russia’s losses in ground armored vehicles were so great that 85% of the tanks and armored vehicles coming to the front were restored and recycled old Soviet equipment.
Losses of Russian ground armored vehicles exceeded 10,000 units. At this rate, within a year Russia may lose the ability to supply its military with the necessary amount of equipment. The corresponding calculations were carried out by analysts on the Oryx website, which maintains records of documented losses.
Since the start of the general war, Russia has lost 10,037 armored vehicles of all types. Among them, in particular:
-
3,376 tanks, including 159 of the most modern T-90 tanks of various modifications,
-
more than 5,000 infantry and airborne combat vehicles, as well as armored personnel carriers,
-
more than 1,500 armored vehicles of other types, including transport, reconnaissance, mine action, etc.
It was noted that the losses of ground armored vehicles were so great that 85% of the tanks and armored vehicles arriving at the front were restored and recycled old Soviet equipment, as estimated by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and the Royal United Defense Studies Institute (RUSI).
Let’s recall that from February 24, 2022 to September 16, 2024, the total combat losses of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine was approximately 634,860 people (+1,060 per day).
