In Russia, the head of the military representative office of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ivan Populovsky, and his subordinate, Grigory Zorin, were detained, suspected of receiving 11 million rubles in bribes from businessmen for help in the reception of military products. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICR).
It was noted that in 2021 – 2024, Populovsky and Zorin received bribes of more than 11 million rubles for ensuring their unhindered receipt of military products and work performed under concluded government contracts and agreement from businesses, as well as providing general patronage to the implementation of the state defense order”.
It was established that the OJSC All-Russian Research Design Institute of Cable Products and JSC Trading House All-Russian Scientific-Experimental Design and Technological Institute of the Cable Industry As part of the implementation of the state defense order for the supply of electrical products, the Russian Ministry of Defense has concluded and is implementing government contracts and interfactory agreements totaling more than 1.2 billion rubles.
In 2021, representatives of businesses entered into a conspiracy with Populovsky and Zorin to weaken control during the receipt of goods, as well as obtain other privileges and preferences when fulfilling a state defense order in return for accepting a bribe.
It was noted that during the investigation, the defendants pleaded guilty to their involvement in other similar crimes, including those related to the theft of funds allocated for the needs of the state defense order.
We remind you that the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case against the deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District, Major General Valery Muminjanov. The general helped conclude contracts with commercial organizations, for which he received more than 20 million rubles.
It was also reported that the former Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Reserve Army General Dmitry Bulgakov was accused of fraud.
