President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that there is a serious shortage of weapons in the Defense Forces.
Due to a lack of resources, Ukraine cannot equip even four of the 14 brigades that need to be trained. The head of state said this in an interview with American journalist Fareed Zakaria. It was already published on YouTube by the presidential press service.
Firstly, everything is happening very slowly. Secondly, we need to prepare 14 brigades. We still don’t have this, and we haven’t equipped even four of this package of brigades,” he noted.
According to the president, during the eight-month pause that preceded the positive decision of the US Congress to provide assistance to Ukraine, all reserves were used.
We used everything we could. We handed over what we have in reserves, what is in warehouses or in reserve brigades that we need now. We took all the weapons they had, Zelensky emphasized.
Let us recall that White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated at the annual YES conference in Kyiv that by the end of September the US plans to transfer to Kyiv “a significant aid package that combines a whole range of different options.”
