The worst floods in 30 years have hit Central Europe.
Four people have already died as a result of massive flooding in Galati County, Romania. More than 5,000 houses in this county were completely or partially damaged, and more than 300 residents had to be evacuated. And in Vaslui County, 40 people were evacuated from five settlements. Euronews, RMF 24 and Radio Liberty report on flooding in European countries.
The situation in Poland is very difficult. One person died in Kłodzko County, and about 1,600 people were evacuated from the region. 17,000 consumers were left without electricity due to bad weather in the Polish region of Lower Silesia.
And in the Polish city of Stronie Śląski, a dam has burst. The city is going under water. Local residents are being evacuated by helicopters.
Flooding in the Czech Republic is also very significant. The water in these rivers has already reached dangerous levels in dozens of areas across the country. Houses and roads in several cities and villages are flooded. More than 63 thousand households are without power.
In particular, the flooding forced the evacuation of a hospital in Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic.
Populated areas in Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova were also flooded.
Let us recall that the situation with floods and waterlogging in southern Poland has worsened over the past night. The Polish government has called on residents of flooded regions not to ignore the recommendations of the evacuation service. Due to floods in Poland and the Czech Republic, railway operators in both countries have temporarily cancelled a number of routes.
