The flooding and waterlogging situation in southern Poland has worsened over the past night. The Polish government is calling on residents of flooded regions not to ignore the evacuation service’s recommendations.
Poland records first flood-related death.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk did not specify the circumstances under which the man died, saying only that it happened in Kłodzko County. According to him, the worst flood situation developed there due to the overflow of the Nisa River.
Prime Minister Tusk warned after a crisis headquarters meeting in Kłodzko that further evacuations should be expected:
In the Kłodzko Voivodeship, 1,600 people have been evacuated. These are primarily local evacuations, such as in the city of Stronie Śląskie, where people are moving to the upper parts of the city. Around 400 people have found temporary shelter in the school.
Premier @donaldtusk w #Kłodzko: 1600 osób ewakuowano w powiecie kłodzkim. Spodziewamy się, że those ewakuacji będzie więcej.

It is known that this cannot last for weeks, such a situation is for a few hours, hopefully for a few days. But we expect that there will be many more such evacuations, – said Tusk and again appealed to residents of areas threatened by flooding not to ignore the calls of services.
The head of government also spoke about the aid allocated to the Lower Silesian Voivodeship:
We are mobilizing helicopters. The first Black Hawk has arrived in Wroclaw, which will be equipped with rescue capabilities. Medical Air Rescue helicopters will also be available. We hope that this will not be necessary, but we must be prepared for such a development.
As a result of heavy precipitation, a difficult situation has developed in the Lower Silesian, Silesian and Opole Voivodeships.
At the same time, the Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak stressed that after the overnight downpours, the flood situation in southern Poland has worsened.
The day before, it was reported that government officials in Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Austria and other Central European countries were preparing for floods amid heavy rains.
Due to floods in Poland and the Czech Republic, rail operators in both countries have temporarily cancelled a number of services.
At the moment, both trains from Prague – to Chop and to Przemysl – are still in the Czech Republic and have no chance of making it to their connecting Ukrainian trains.
Therefore, we remind you that we are ready to accept passengers with tickets for today’s trains on any of our trains on the same route in the next 24 hours for any available seats without exchanging tickets, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.
The company also noted that they advise passengers from Ukraine heading to their connection in the Prague direction to contact the Czech or Polish railway operator directly and clarify the schedule of the next flights.
