A man in the Khmelnytsky region started a shootout with the police.
The incident occurred on the night of September 14 in the village of Oleshin, Khmelnytskyi territorial community. Patrol officers stopped a local resident’s car because he was driving during curfew. It turned out that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol – the “Drager” showed 1.27 ppm of alcohol in the body. This was reported by the National Police.
An administrative protocol was drawn up against the offender. After that, the driver went home, but his friend remained by the car. Soon the man returned to the scene with a Kalashnikov assault rifle in his hands and opened fire on the patrol officers.
The attacker wounded one of the police officers and a passenger in his own car. The police returned fire and called for help. The KORD special forces unit arrived to help the patrolmen, and the man also shot at them.
As a result of the shootout, two police cars were damaged. The wounded law enforcement officer is in serious condition. The shooter was detained.
Investigators have already opened a criminal case under Article 348 (attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Let us recall that on September 15, in the village of Dobryvody near Zbarazh in the Ternopil region, a 45-year-old serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine opened fire. As a result, two people were killed and three more were injured.
