The leaders discussed Ukraine’s request for permission to use long-range missiles in the war against Russia in a face-to-face meeting at the White House.
US President Joe Biden met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Politicians said they would continue to support Ukraine in its opposition to Russian aggression. It was announced on Friday, September 13, on the White House website.
The leaders, as noted by the Biden administration, held “in-depth discussions on foreign policy and issues of mutual interest.”
Biden and Starmer “expressed concern” about Iran and North Korea’s supply of weapons to Russia and China’s support for the Russian defense industrial base.
According to Politico, Biden and Starmer, in a face-to-face meeting at the White House, discussed Ukraine’s request for permission to use long-range missiles in a war against the Russian Federation.
“However, the leaders never agreed to give Kyiv permission to fire Storm Shadow missiles at military targets on the territory of the aggressor country,” the publication points out.
In particular, Starmer said at a press conference after the talks that a final decision on the Storm Shadow missiles had not been made, and indicated that the next steps could take place at a UN General meeting Assembly later this month.
Biden, answering reporters’ questions about what he thought about Russian dictator Putin’s words that allowing the West to push deep into the Russian Federation would bring NATO countries “to a state of war with Russia,” said: “I don’t think much about Vladimir Putin.”
The politicians also discussed the conflict between Israel and Palestine, the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages from both sides. One of the topics of conversation between the politicians was the attacks by Iran-backed Houthis on merchant ships in the Red Sea.
Canada fully supports the idea of allowing Ukraine to use long-range weapons against military targets on Russian territory.
It was previously reported that Britain allowed Ukraine to fire Storm Shadow missiles at the Russian Federation.
Putin commented on the authorization to strike deep into the Russian Federation
