In August, a total of at least 12 Shahed-type kamikaze drones flew into Belarus.
This was reported by the monitoring group “Belarusian Gayun”, which tracks military movements on the territory of Belarus.
These events took place on August 21, 26, 27, 29 and 31. In some cases, more Belarusian fighters were used to intercept the drones. However, only one Shahed was shot down in August.
On the night of August 29, a fighter of the Belarusian Air Force shot down a “shahed” over Belarus for the first time in the entire monitoring period. This happened at about 03:55 in the Yale district of the Gomel region. What happened to the other 11 UAVs that flew into Belarus is unknown, the monitoring group notes.
The Belarusian Gayun adds that there is currently no reason to believe that flights of Russian Shahed-136/131 UAVs into Belarus will cease in the near future.
