The Smela City and District Court granted the request of police investigators and the prosecutor’s office and chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the beating of a war veteran and extortion of money from him in Smela, Cherkasy region – detention without the right to post bail.
The National Police press service reported this today, September 11.
Earlier today it became known that police detained 28-year-old Vadim Dolotenko, a suspect in the beating of veteran Anatoly Goncharenko near Smela, in one of the hotels in the Cherkasy region where he was hiding.
He is charged with extortion and hooliganism committed by a group of persons under Part 4 of Article 189 and Part 2 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code.
Another participant in the beating, the father of the first defendant, was also reported as suspected of hooliganism (Part 2 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code).
