The drug business was started by a 33-year-old resident of the region, who was previously convicted of drug distribution.
In the Khmelnitsky region, the leader of a criminal group and four of his accomplices were detained, who set up a drug laboratory for the production of amphetamine and cultivated cannabis. The police press service reported this on Wednesday, September 11.
In total, law enforcement officials seized nearly 5,000 cannabis bushes worth 10 million hryvnias.
The drug business was founded by a 33-year-old resident of the Khmelnitsky region, who was previously convicted of drug distribution. He and four other residents of the region set up a drug laboratory on rented premises. Its capacity allows it to produce 500 g of amphetamine per month.
One gram of the psychotropic substance at black market prices costs about 1,000 UAH, so dealers earned an average of 500 thousand hryvnias monthly from amphetamine sales alone. They sold drugs in the region.
Also, drug dealers regularly received illegal income from the sale of cannabis – members of the criminal organization planted four plots of cannabis in a forest, as far as possible from populated areas.
Fearing exposure from the police, the attackers maintained strict secrecy: they constantly changed their access routes, left mobile phones in remote locations and used different rental cars.
Law enforcement officials conducted 24 searches. Based on their results, almost 5,000 hemp bushes, bags of cannabis, 17 mobile phones, bank cards, laboratory equipment for the production of amphetamine, two cars and “rough” records were seized.
The leader of the criminal organization and four participants were imprisoned. They were informed of the suspicion. Those involved can be imprisoned for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
Let’s recall that in April, during a large-scale special operation to expose the logistical network of drug dealers, law enforcement officers conducted searches in 19 regions and detained 26 dealers.
