The short-range Fath-360 missiles transferred by Iran to Russia will allow Moscow to retain longer-range missiles for strikes deep into Ukrainian territory.
This was reported by Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder.
The US Department of Defense confirmed that the aggressor country received short-range ballistic missiles (120 km) from Tehran. The Iranian publication Tasnim previously wrote that they are more than five meters long and weigh 787 kg (including a 150-kilogram warhead).
The Pentagon cannot yet say how many of these missiles Russia has received, but it is assumed that it may use them in the coming weeks. According to the American side, dozens of Russian servicemen have traveled to Iran to learn how to use the Fath-300/360.
The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iran for supplying ballistic missiles to Russia and expanded sanctions against Russia.
The restrictions affected nine Iranian citizens and four Iranian companies, in particular the state-owned airline Iran Air, the transport company Azadegan, and the design bureau Farzanegan Propulsion Systems, which supplied Russia with samples of engines for cruise missiles.
Ukraine is considering severing diplomatic relations with Iran over the supply of ballistic missiles to Russia.
