The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iran for supplying ballistic missiles to Russia and expanded sanctions against Russia.
The restrictions affected nine Iranian citizens and four Iranian companies, in particular the state-owned airline Iran Air, the transport company Azadegan, and the design bureau Farzanegan Propulsion Systems, which supplied Russia with samples of engines for cruise missiles.
As well as Russian carriers and vessels involved in the supply of Iranian weapons to the Russian Federation:
- LLC “Wholesale Company “VAFA” and “More Reka Service”;
- dry cargo ships “Boris Kustodiev”, “Port Olya-3”, “Port Olya-4”, “Vafa” and “Vafa-1”;
- ferry “Composer Rachmaninov”;
- ship “Omskiy-103”, “Omskiy-119”, “Zakamsk”.
The list also includes:
- Russian Dzhamaldin Pashayev is the general director of the company “Sea Trade Port Olya” in Astrakhan;
- Iranian Defense Ministry employee Ruhollah Katebi, responsible for contacts with the Russian government;
- Ebrahim Bahrami, the organizer of training Russian drone operators in Iran;
- IRGC Air Force Commander Ali Ja’Farabadi;
- Azadegan Chairman of the Board of Directors Ali Zare, his deputy Gholamreza Eini Sarkallah and acting Managing Director Masoud Noorahmadi;
- senior Farzanegan officials Hossein, Zahra and Hassan Pourfarzan.
Iran has decided to step up its involvement in Russia’s illegal war, and the United States and its partners will continue to support Ukraine, said US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo, commenting on the new sanctions.
