Latvia plans to limit land purchases by Russians

The Latvian coalition government is introducing restrictions in the country for Russian citizens following Finland’s example.

In Latvia, the coalition government has agreed to adopt a law that will limit the ability of Russian citizens to buy land in Latvia. LSM reported it.

According to the faction leader New unity in the Latvian parliament of Edmunds Jurevics, the coalition “agreed in concept” to introduce restrictions in the country for Russian citizens following Finland’s example.

“Together with coalition partners and experts, we will examine how best to legally limit the ability of Russian citizens to buy real estate in Latvia,” he said.

For the decision to take effect, a decision of the Latvian Parliament is required.

We remind you that Latvia has started to install anti-tank barriers on the border with Russia.

It has also been reported that Latvia will tighten border control on goods from the Russian Federation and Belarus.
