Scholz, together with some party members, could develop a plan similar to the Minsk agreements, providing for the possible transfer of part of the occupied Ukrainian territories to Russia.
The West continues to look for ways to end the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine. As Vladimir Zelensky presents his victory plan to the US leadership, another partner of Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, may be preparing his own peace initiative.
Convenient plan for Russia
Italian La Repubblica writes that Scholz wants to go down in history as Chancellor of the World. To do this, he plans to use Russia’s war against Ukraine. The publication, citing sources in the parliament, reports that Scholz, together with some party members, is developing a plan similar to the Minsk agreements, which provides for the possible transfer of part of the occupied which are Ukrainian territories in Russia.
The publication writes that Scholz did not comment on this information. However, earlier in an interview with the German channel ZDF, he said that the second world summit should take place with the participation of Russia. According to the chancellor, his position on this issue coincides with the position of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
“I believe now is the moment when we need to discuss how we can get out of this military situation and achieve peace faster than it seems possible now,” Scholz said.
Reaction
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Ermak, in response to this information, said that Ukraine will not give up its territorial integrity.
“Exclusive Ukrainian Peace Formula, international law, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. This is the only way to justice,” Ermak noted.
Russia also reacted to this information. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Russian Federation is ready to consider any proposals, but first they want to know more information about Scholz’s initiative.
Indian plan
The Prime Minister of India’s adviser on National Security Ajit Doval will arrive in Moscow on September 10-11 to discuss peace initiatives in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the Indian press reports.
Doval plans to meet with Vladimir Putin. He will also participate in the BRICS security meeting. It is expected that on the sidelines of this meeting, Doval will hold negotiations with representatives of the Russian Federation and China.
While visiting Kiev, Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi said his country supports achieving peace in Ukraine through diplomatic means with respect for the state’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also assured that India is ready to actively contribute to a peaceful settlement.
Chinese plan
China also has its own peace plan with Brazil. Their initiative, in particular, is for the parties to adhere to the three principles of conflict de-escalation: not to expand the battlefield, not to intensify the conflict and to avoid provocations. In the statement, the countries also noted the unacceptable use of weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear, chemical and biological, and paid attention to the need to prevent nuclear proliferation and prevent a nuclear crisis.
