Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said “Nazis” are allegedly fighting in Ukraine, and the international community is ignoring it.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tikhy said Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico’s statement about the Ukrainian military contradicted the “level of trust and interaction” between the two states. This was stated on Monday, September 9, in a statement by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tikhy noted that Kyiv was “disappointed” by Fico’s statement addressed to Ukrainian soldiers defending the Motherland and Europe from Russian invaders.
“For Ukrainians, countering Russian aggression is a continuation of the history of our people’s resistance to totalitarian regimes of the last century. In the 20th century, the Ukrainian people suffered millions of losses in the resistance to Nazism,” the spokesperson recalled.
The representative of the Foreign Ministry recalled the history of the Holocaust in Ukraine, where the Nazis exterminated approximately one and a half million Ukrainian Jews, and more than 2,600 Ukrainians were included in the Righteous Among the Nations list.
“We count on the united efforts of Slovakia and all our European partners in countering Russia’s latest evil, which has caused atrocities on Ukrainian soil not seen since World War II,” Tikhy stressed.
He also confirmed Kyiv’s readiness for further constructive dialogue, “in line with the traditionally warm and good relations between the Slovak and Ukrainian peoples.”
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said again that “Nazi troops” are fighting in Ukraine, but the international community “doesn’t notice” it. He made this statement during a visit to the Holocaust Museum in the Slovak city of Sered.
