Lithuanian authorities will develop a national plan for the mass evacuation of the population.
It is planned to be ready by the beginning of October, said the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Internal Affairs Agne Bilotaite. According to her, Lithuania should also be ready to implement this plan, Delfi reported.
Belotayte noted that each local government currently has an evacuation plan, but it is absent at the national level, although against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, sabotage in the Baltics has become a “new reality.”
The war against Ukraine continues, the countries of our region are subjected to hybrid and disinformation attacks, and sabotage is our new reality. It is important to note that we are on the front lines, so civil defense has become a priority today, LRT quotes the official as saying.
Work to strengthen security will be carried out both at the national level and jointly with Latvia and Estonia. For these purposes, the countries will require funding from the European Union, added Agnė Bilotaitė.
In June, amid threats from Russia, the German government developed a new plan in case of war.
