The appearance of a drone in the country cannot be considered as an open military escalation, the Latvian Ministry of Defense said.
The Russian drone that crashed in Latvia on September 8 was likely a Shahed, loaded with explosives. This was reported by Rus TvNet.
The commander of the Latvian National Armed Forces, Leonid Kalnins, noted that the drone had been “deactivated.” It is now undergoing a “thorough review.”
He also said that the appearance of a drone in Latvia cannot be considered an open military escalation against the country.
Latvia will strengthen its air defense on its eastern border in response to the Russian drone, Defense Minister Andris Spruds said.
As we have already written, in a night attack a group of suicide bombers flew into Romania.
