An agent of the Russian Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces was detained in Kyiv.
The attacker placed “video pastes” around the capital for online adjustment of strikes on the city and committed arson at Ukrzaliznytsia facilities. The agent lived in Kharkov, but arrived in Kyiv on the orders of the occupiers. He rented an apartment in a multi-story building with windows overlooking the local thermal power plant. This was reported by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
In this house, the man installed a video camera with a remote access program, which allowed the occupiers to monitor the power facility in “real time”. In another apartment, the Kharkov resident also set up an “observation point”. In addition, he installed disguised video recording devices to track strikes on power lines.
Thus, enemy intelligence planned to record the consequences of new air strikes on the Kiev region and identify the locations of air defense systems.
The SBU reported that after this the man returned to Kharkov to set fire to a relay cabinet on a strategic railway line.
The criminal has been detained in the capital. During the searches, evidence of cooperation with Russians was found. He has already been informed of suspicion of treason while he is in custody.
Let us recall that agents of the Department of Counterintelligence Operations of the FSB of Russia were exposed in Kyiv. The cell, consisting of four people, was coordinated by a former people’s deputy from the banned “Party of Regions”. Supporters of the Russians were engaged in intelligence and sabotage work on the territory of Ukraine.
