If Ukraine were to establish mass production of its own glide bombs, it would be able to strike Russian territory with the same frequency as the Russian Armed Forces fire similar shells into Ukraine.
Ukraine has developed its own high-precision glide bomb, which could be a “primary weapon” for attacks on Russian military targets. Forbes reported this in connection with a video of bomb tests recently published by the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the publication, the bomb is equipped with a rocket accelerator, retractable wings and a GPS system, and its flight range can reach approximately 65 kilometers. The publication also noted the bomb’s similarity to the French Hammer.
It was noted that if Ukraine establishes mass production of these bombs, it will be able to strike Russian territory with the same frequency as the Russian Armed Forces fire at Ukraine with similar shells.
The new bomb will join the list of munitions produced in Ukraine, such as the Neptune cruise missile, Palyanitsya drone missile and various long-range attack drones.
Forbes notes that by creating its own precision-guided munitions, Ukraine has been freed from complete dependence on fickle allies for basic military capabilities. Local production is also a way for Ukraine to get around allied restrictions on how and where Ukrainian forces can use foreign-made ammunition.
More importantly, the Americans are prohibiting the Ukrainians from firing US-supplied precision ballistic missiles at targets inside Russia—targets that include air bases that house aircraft that fire glide bombs at whole country.
As reported, President Vladimir Zelensky announced the production of weapons underground.
Let’s recall that at the end of August it was reported that Ukraine used the domestic Palyanitsa drone missile for the first time. Also in Ukraine, a new maritime drone, Stalker 5.0, was developed.
