Portugal has transferred the promised Ka-32 fire-fighting helicopters to Ukraine.
The Portuguese Ministry of Defense sent the first helicopters to Ukraine on September 6. They were loaded disassembled onto trucks in Ponte de Sor, Sicnoticias reported.
It is noted that Ukrainian military structures will be able to use these helicopters for various tasks.
The Portuguese government said that through MDN, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they coordinated the transportation of helicopters with the Ukrainian embassy in Lisbon and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
As is known, the Ka-32 helicopter is a multi-purpose helicopter developed in the USSR on the basis of the military Ka-27. It is designed to perform various tasks: cargo transportation, rescue operations, firefighting, as well as construction and installation work.
Let us recall that during July 2024, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense hit three Russian helicopters on Russian territory. Two Mi-28 and Ka-226 helicopters were attacked on July 21 in Tomlin, Moscow Region. Another Mi-8 helicopter was hit in Samara.
