A teacher at the capital’s university was accused of “awakening hatred with the threat of violence.”
In Russia, a court sent an associate professor of the philosophy department of Bauman Moscow State Technical University to a pre-trial detention center for Ukrainian songs on his page on the social network VKontakte. DW reported this on Saturday, September 7.
It was noted that 63-year-old Alexander Nesterenko, who is also a member of one of the precinct commissions from the Yabloko party, was accused of “inciting hatred with the threat of violence.”
The reason for the detention of a university teacher in a pre-trial detention center was the Ukrainian songs posted on his page on the social network VKontakte.
Nesterenko himself reported on September 3 that security forces came to his home and took him for questioning to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. After the conversation, the man was released as a witness. However, two days later the assistant professor was arrested and sent to a pre-trial detention center.
The list of audio recordings on which the investigation carried out the analysis includes, in particular, the songs “Mi Rostem” of the group Vopli Vidoplyasov and the composition “Fire in the Wound – Ukraine Peremozhe” performed by Gordon Black . It was the latter song, according to investigators, that contained signs of “inciting violent and destructive actions.”
Let’s recall that in February of this year in Moscow, the co-chairman of the Memorial Society, a Russian human rights group awarded the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize, Oleg Orlov, was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for “destroying the armed forces of Russia.” by expressing his “disagreement with the war in Ukraine.”
